AI Job Application Assistant
Build Your Core Asset
Initial Setup Checklist
- Receive and read the candidate's current résumé and the specific job description before writing a single word.
- Conduct a structured intake: ask what they actually did in each relevant role, including measurable outcomes they undersell.
- Run a keyword-gap analysis comparing their résumé language to the JD's required language using AI.
- Rewrite targeted bullets and the summary section using only facts confirmed in the intake—mark any unsupported addition for removal.
- Return a draft for the candidate's explicit review and written approval before the document goes anywhere.

Common Mistakes
- Adding skills or tools the candidate did not use
Impact: The candidate is asked about those tools in an interview and cannot answer—or worse, is hired under false pretences and fails probation. You are liable for enabling fraud.
Correction: Every skill or tool in the final document must trace back to an intake answer. Use [VERIFY WITH CANDIDATE] in drafts and resolve every flag before delivery.
- Submitting or auto-filling applications without explicit per-submission consent
Impact: The candidate may not want that application, may have applied already, or may need to withdraw. Autonomous submission without consent is impersonation.
Correction: Your scope ends at document delivery. The candidate submits. If you fill forms on their behalf, get written consent for each specific application before clicking submit.
- Promising interview callbacks or job offers
Impact: Outcomes depend on the hiring pipeline, competition, and the candidate's interview performance—none of which you control. A disappointed client becomes a reputation problem.
Correction: Commit only to a well-tailored, accurate document. State clearly in writing that your service improves presentation, not outcome.
Practice Execution
- Find a real job posting in a field you understand.
- Create a fictional but realistic candidate profile with three previous roles and specific—but modest—achievements.
- Run Prompt 1 to identify the keyword gaps between the fictional résumé and the job posting.
- Run Prompt 2 on two résumé bullets that have a matching JD requirement.
- Review every [VERIFY] flag in the AI output and resolve each by checking your fictional intake answers.
- Write a cover-letter opening paragraph that addresses the top two JD priorities using only the confirmed fictional experience.
